For many children and their parents, a visit to the hospital can be intimidating and even downright scary. The Annual Teddy Bear Fair presented by Irving Oil will help thousands of children overcome their fears and make going to the hospital much less troubling.
Children can bring their 'sick' teddy bear, doll or cuddly toy to the Saint John Regional Hospital for a special visit. Teddy Bear Specialists from the hospital will be on-call to help make sure accident-prone companions are well cared for.
Hospital departments such as x-ray, surgery, respiratory therapy, physiotherapy and a number of others offer clinics. In addition, several community organizations from across Saint John, including Ambulance New Brunswick, the Saint John Fire Department, the Saint John Police Force, Atlantic Car Seat Safety and the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nurses will be on hand to help educate children about safety and healthy habits.
The Fair has three goals: to introduce children and their parents to the hospital setting, raise funds for children’s programs at the hospital and help promote healthy living and wellness.
The Fair has helped thousands of children - and their parents - overcome the fears of coming to a hospital. Many parents and staff tell us children who have attended the Fair are much easier to help.
